I'm having one this evening. On my 29th birthday.
Sometime in the next 24 hours, someone other than me and my engineering is going to use the product I've poured my life into. 25 others to be exact.
It's a moment of truth for me.
Either the service we've built elicits that visceral, emotional response we've designed for, or it doesn't. That emotional response is passion. Either we've captured the beginnings of it, or we haven't.
If we did, then my life probably changes.
Changes defined as I'm confident we can grow the service, raise an A Round, and build a company around capturing the emotion of passion at scale with sports as the entryway.
If we didn't, then my life still changes, but not in the way I'm obviously hoping for. Probably becomes time to hang 'em up with YS. Have been at it for 5 years now.
If we got the basic bet right that sports fans have a deeply emotional relationship with the neighborhoods, cities, sports, schools, teams, trophies, people, etc. they've connected with throughout their sporting lives, then I'm confident we've built the beginnings of the right product to capture that.
Tonight, pre-launch, is a moment of truth in my life.
It's almost gametime. And I'm ready for it.
And I'm definitely nervous.
